Getting Your Sh*t Together

What have we been procrastinating...it's time to get chipping away at that long list, I want to help you with one item.

Health & Fitness: If this is not on your long list - congrats you're the minority and also very hated amongst everyone else. haha. For the rest of you, please continue to read on as I have tried to break it down into 5 easy steps on how to get control of this part of your life.

  1. Clear Your Cupboards: Look at your kitchen like it's your closet. We try to purge our closets at least once a year if not once a season right? Well continue down the hallway, down the stairs and purge the sh*t out of your kitchen.  Throw out every food item that is over 8 grams of sugar per serving and the items that have been sitting in the back of those cupboards that you have not used in the past 6 months. If a food item lasts longer than 6 months it probably contains artificial ingredients...and you're going to put those in your body? I think NOT!
  2. Change Your Grocery Shopping Routine: I learned this rule about 4 years ago and it really helped me change my diet to a more 'clean' diet. Shop on the outer edges of the grocery store. Yep that’s it. Try to avoid the cracker, pop, pasta, etc isles. The outer edges typically include The Produce, Dairy & Substitutes, Protein,  Organic and Fresh Bakery (no not the cakes and donuts - don't be an idiot).
  3. Get a Workout Partner: Look at your friends and family and find someone who is in the same shape as you or hopefully a little more motivated than you. Make a commitment to eachother to do 3 active things/week. If you have someone to workout with you are more likely to actually do it. The most important thing is to hold each other accountable!! Hiring a personal trainer with a partner will also reduce the cost of sessions. Check out our Double Trouble package.
  4. Get Help: Sure you can buy a gym pass, but will you go? When you do go, are you comfortable with the equipment? Do you know how to strength train? Do you know how to efficiently get to your goals? If you do - congratulations! Get that gym pass and get your butt back on track! If not, get help. There are so many trainers in Vancouver that can assist, and it's not as expensive as you may think. If the trainer is passionate about helping people we will work out the best possible package that works with the clients budget and schedule. Contact me and we can work something out :)
  5. Stop following those fake Instagram accounts: Yes those accounts that have the ‘prefect’ super toned bodies and intense exercises. Yes they're fun to watch and maybe you can pick up some cool moves from them but recent studies show that an individual spends 2 hours/day on social media. That's 2 hours you could be spending sweating - not watching others sweat. It will also negatively impact your self-esteem. Why would you spend hours a week demoting yourself? You may not know it at the time, but next time you spend that 15 minutes cruising the fitness-tube take a moment and re-check how you feel. Those fitness models spend their entire day working out and they're getting paid to do this! It's their job! Don't compare yourself to these models. Be your own model. Take pictures of yourself and your progress.

Just Have Fun! Yep that's the true meaning of life right? Happiness and Health. You only life once. So why not live the best life you can. Is waking up going to work, coming home and watching tv the best life you can live? The more active you become, the more energy and confidence you will have! I wish you all luck with September and getting your sh*t together. Be patient with yourself and take one day at a time.

Feeling weak, anxious and unconnected to my body lead me to start exercising. I joined a dance class once a week and after every dance class I had a glow about me, and it wasn't just from the sweat that I built up in class, it was something more. I realized it was the endorphins that were being produced from the physical activity I was doing. That was 13 years ago. Since then I have devoted my career life to helping other humans, like yourself, kick butt in their health and fitness goals. If you're looking for a helping hand or not even knowing where you should start... I would be more than honoured to help!
