Holiday Heafer Syndrome?

Guess what! Now that the summer is gone you can push your health and fitness goals off to the side! After all we can now hide under big wool sweaters and tights, right!?!

WRONG -  IT'S GONNA TAKE WAY MORE WORK TO WORK THAT SH*T OFF then it did to put it on!!

I am determined not let this evil holiday heafer syndrome affect my clients, so here is a few tips & tricks that help me keep the weight off.

  1. EAT ALL THE TIME- Eat smaller portions but all throughout the day. Who doesn't love a little leftover turkey sandwich? Instead of eating the whole sandwich put 1/2 of it back in the fridge and save it for your next snack! Separating your 'normal' portion into 2 is an excellent way to portion control your meals! It will also allow you to eat more often and you will never be saying "OMG I'm stuffed!"
  2. ADD WEIGHT TRAINING TO YOUR ROUTINE - Weight lifting will speed up your metabolism. Period. No it will not make you 'bulky', unless you're pounding back protein and carbs...and I mean pounding - meaning eating a lot! Creating muscle will in turn make you leaner, toned like a tiger and less jiggly...haha. Plus 1lb of muscle burns 10 calories vs. 1lb of fat only burning 1 calorie. Not to go into depth but muscles also supports your joints and bones. As we age we need the support and strength of our muscles! So start training tomorrow! I'm serious! Not sure where to start? Check out my rates for ONE-ON-ONES or let me build you a program you can take to the gym.
  3. EAT BEFORE YOU EAT - k what?? Hear me out. Before you head to your famous family holiday dinner eat a little something-something. No, not a bag of chips but something that is full of protein! Like some almonds, peanut butter 'n celery, heck even a chicken breast! I'm telling you this will save you 1000 calories!
  4. DRINK H2O - Wash every bite down with a nice gulp of water. This helps fill you up and slow you down so when your stomach is full you'll be able to feel it! Plus water helps to keep you awake, hydrated and wrinkle free ;)
  5. BE ACTIVE - Well duh....but you should start something new! Try a new class if you belong to a gym! Go to a bootcamp (maybe TeckFitness's), start a new running route, etc. Keeping your fitness routine fresh and interesting is only good for your mind but it's beneficial for your body too! Using different muscles and 'tricking' your body will result in changing your body and the way it looks. (not to sound superficial). Try some new moves by watching my workout videos.

Feeling weak, anxious and unconnected to my body lead me to start exercising. I joined a dance class once a week and after every dance class I had a glow about me, and it wasn't just from the sweat that I built up in class, it was something more. I realized it was the endorphins that were being produced from the physical activity I was doing. That was 13 years ago. Since then I have devoted my career life to helping other humans, like yourself, kick butt in their health and fitness goals. If you're looking for a helping hand or not even knowing where you should start... I would be more than honoured to help!
