TRAIL RUNNING

My favourite spots are all located conveniently right in my backyard- literally! I am most familiar with the North Shore trails, however I am slowly exploring new territory. If you have any suggestions please let me know! Below are some of my go-to's, even on a rainy Vancouver day.
COME FOR A RUN WITH US

Quarry Rock

Picture
Location: Deep Cove (click on picture for Google map)
Time: 40-60 minutes (it should only take 20-25 minutes each way. The view is definitely worth a quick break at the top!

One of the Trails that is always featured on "The Last 10 Pounds" Boot Camp Show. It has rolling hills so its great for interval training. When I run this trail I go with someone who is faster than me and get them to chase me - making me go faster - Duh! It is also doggie friendly ;)

Rice Lake

Picture
Location: Lynn Valley (click on picture for Google map)
Time: Dependent on where you start as there are numerous trails connecting to Rice Lake Loop
ranging from 25-45 minutes.

A flat trail with a beautiful lake to run around. My favourite place to run on a misty morning because the lake and trail has a spooky mist hovering above it and really adds to the feel of the run.

This trail is not doggie or bike friendly .

Lynn Loop

Picture
Location: Lynn Valley, as if the name doesn't give it away! (click on picture for Google map)
Time: 45-60 Minutes

This trail varies in difficulty. The beginning and end are fairly steep but are good for a warm up and cool down. The remainder of the trail is flat and enjoyable. I would not recommend running up these hills unless you have already warmed up - you don't want to shock your heart & body. I would also not recommend running down these hills unless you have been properly trained on how to run down a hill (by activating your quads and not relying on your knees) - well I guess now you know how :)

This trail is Doggie Friendly ;)

Capilano Canyon

Picture
Location: Capilano Road - just before Grouse Mountain. (click on picture for Google map)
Time: 45-60 Minutes dependent on which trail you take within the many forks.

This trail is one to discover yourself rather than researching it. My suggestion is either go with someone who has done it (ME) or leave yourself some time to discover it. I prefer the trail that takes me down to the Salmon Hatchery and back up to the parking lot. The end consists of a tonne of stairs which work your BUTT muscles - HELLO BIKINI!!

This trail is Doggie Friendly ;)
